The Avatars of Aroma
Aroma, or as we endearingly call it, fragrance, serves our strongest sense of memory which is the smell. We might not always remember the exact visuals of an event that we witnessed, but we will always remember the scent that we associated with that memory. It is for this reason that certain celebrities use a particular perfume while shooting for a movie. This way, they can use that perfume long after they have shot the movie and revisit those days. Sounds interesting, right? This fun activity is not limited to a certain social class.
Anyone can assign a perfume to a memory they hold dear to
themselves. For example, a bride can adorn herself with her favorite fragrance
on her wedding day and save that bottle forever. She will relive the day she
got married every single time she sprays that perfume. Also, perfume for women comes in such wide varieties. It is incredible that fragrance is an
umbrella term for millions of notes and bases of scents, and we automatically
assume that it is going to smell beautiful. It is very personal, though.
Someone might run away from the Oudh attar that you can't
seem to live without and vice versa. Floral, fruity, woody, musky, etc. Oudh
attar is one of the most widely loved scents in the world. There are more
avatars of an aroma than we can possibly think of. Perhaps that's the beauty of
it. The fragrance of all flowers is termed "floral," but one flower
smells entirely different from the other one.
That is one generalization, but we must all take some time out to
appreciate just how diverse and genius the art of perfumery is. It is nothing
short of witchcraft but provided the amount of imagination it takes to make a
perfume happen, we can call the perfume maker a scientist as well.
